Jiwa Juang Project

This project was a collaboration project with two young talented photographer which is FAHAMI HASNI and FAREEZ NAZLAN who has a same passion as me, to share our opinion about something that we feel through photography with societies. this project was called Jiwa Juang. why Jiwa Juang?

here is the rationale of Jiwa Juang:

This video art, tells about the current position of colonial mindset of the Malaysian society. In the past we have been colonialism by the Portuguese, English and Japanese. Malaya has been through various processes to fight for freedom for his fellow countrymen. After many years of fighting for it, then Malaya finally achieve the freedom that has been waiting all these years by societies. From that moment Malaysia has gone through various processes of development and achieve world-class standard until now days. But in process of achievement, we began to idle and neglect because we getting too exposure from the outside world that caused the fall of morality and identity. Although Malaysia has developed and has been able to compete with other country, but at the same time we started been colonial again but this time in differ approaches which is Western mentality.

Invasion of the colonial mind happen where we are not aware in terms of thinking, behavior, lifestyle of western-oriented culture. Colonization is more prevalent, especially in young societies who supposedly are the next generation of the country that believe will be a leader to lead our country to the right path. This colonization can be viewed in adolescent behavior such as free interactions, free sex, etc. it results from the minds of those who is colonial. This not only can be viewed though the behavior, but also ftom differ angle can also cause other aspects in colonization if we don’t have a strong opinion, believe, thought and human capital thinking. Based on the results of this work, highlighting the movement is an important element in helping to explain the internal purposes of this work. The movement reflects changes of individual because it is a behavior that occurs on an ongoing basis in human life and it also represent a changing of behavior or attitude if the person has been colonial by the Western culture. The relationship between movement and thought is parallel at all for what is thought it will be done. A human figure which does not represent any individual because every individual in Malaysia, especially youth who are experiencing the invasion process. Powerful mind and a strong personal opinion is the ideal combination for the proceedings to defend themselves from directly been colonial by Western culture.
